Annapolis, Maryland (January 3, 2018) – Maryland Department of the Environment has approved the Maryland FINAL Project Priority List for Federal FY 2017 & State FY2019 Clean Water Funds (State Revolving Loan/State Grant) to include the Piney Orchard Wastewater Treatment Facility. The four million dollars will be utilized for planning, designing and constructing Enhanced Nutrient Removal (ENR) technology to upgrade the existing 1,200,000 gallons per day facility. Excess nutrients, like nitrogen and phosphorus, lead to degraded water quality, which negatively impact the ecology of the Bay and its tributaries. Design work to begin in Fall 2018, but the project has an August 2006 completion date.B
